When AI takes over routine tasks, new demands appear in their place: governing outputs, integrating systems, validating quality, coordinating across teams, making judgement calls that didn&#8217;t exist before. The work doesn&#8217;t disappear. Judgement. Contextual reasoning. Relationship-building. Ethical discernment. This isn&#8217;t a sentimental argument about human worth. It&#8217;s an economic one. If the first draft is always AI-generated, where does the junior learn to write? The structural problem underneath gets less attention: the pipeline for building future expertise is shifting, and the short-term productivity gains can mask the long-term capability gap.<br \/><\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The organisations that address this &#8211; that redesign how expertise is developed in an AI-assisted environment &#8211; will build a compounding advantage. It becomes a discipline when someone owns it with budget, authority, and accountability.
